I want to think that you notice when I’ve been away for a while.
In the past, it was because I was posting on Medium or because I was busy working on my book. Now it is because I have not been posting anywhere or writing anything.
Some of you know I was bitten by a mosquito and contracted West Nile virus — that’s right, me and Dr. Fauci! It’s has been an incredibly humbling experience — eight days in the hospital and now, five months later, still healing. Then, I couldn’t lift my left foot more than an inch. Now I can walk Rocky (off leash) without using a cane. And, best of all, I connected with Dr. Fauci, first via Zoom and then in person, at an event celebrating his new book, On Call. He reached out when I came backstage and said, “my West Nile buddy!”
And now for the good news:
I’m telling that story at Generation’s Women 2/19 show, “Unstoppable: Stories of Grit, Guts, and Glory”
We all have that unstoppable moment—the time when courage overcame fear and we took the leap. This February, our multigenerational storytellers are revealing their own tales of grit, guts, and glory. From unexpected risks to triumphant outcomes, these six true stories will remind you of the power of bravery and taking a risk. Come in out of the cold to Joe’s Pub for an evening of connection, celebration, and stories that prove big, bold moves can change everything.
If you’re in New York, you can drop by and see the show in person. If you’d like to watch from your living room couch or bed from anywhere, virtual attendance is possible. Tickets here.
Even better news…
Some of you have been here since the beginning. A few of you I seem to know since the beginning of time (or at least college!). Thanks to a profile in Ageist magazine, I have some new readers here.
The above piece — and the fact that I feel bad about neglecting this website — compelled me to make a decision. I’m going to post my Medium stories here from now on, as well as pieces that appear in other writing platforms in the future. You found me (or I strong-armed you into subscribing), and you deserve better!
